Amazon Book Club | Concept

Amazon Book Club.png

Overview

Amazon Book Club was a concept that began as a way for users to form book club groups and order Amazon Publishing titles at a discount.

My role: UX Design and research

Validation

In order to validate that this was a valuable idea I interviewed over 20 readers who took part in various book clubs both in-person and online. The research uncovered the following insights:

  • There are many book clubs and our voracious readers aren’t as interested in finding new book clubs but, rather, in finding more content.

  • Readers are more interested in content that is recommended by friends with the same taste, authors they enjoy or celebrities they admire.

This research shifted the focus of the project from forming groups to following “influencers” – giving readers the opportunity to follow people they respected, receiving their recommendations and pricing deals on a regular basis.

The following conceptual work was created as a way to help guide the discussion around finalizing the business requirements and the project roadmap.
